Governmental Public Health JTA
Governmental Public Health Job Task Analysis
In 2022, the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) received funding through The Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) to conduct a Job Task Analysis for the governmental public health workforce.
The GPH JTA Committee held its first meeting on October 19-21, 2023, at ASPPH Headquarters in Washington, DC along with staff members from PHAB, ASPPH, NBPHE, and Meazure Learning to identify the day-to-day task performed by the GPH workforce and finalize the survey instrument which included demographic questions.
The survey was administered from May to July 2024 and its goal was to identify the most frequent and important day-to-day tasks that employees at entry-, mid-, and senior levels in governmental public health perform in their positions.
Members of the GPH JTA Committee met again on October 22-23, 2024, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Crystal City, VA along with representatives from PHAB, ASPPH, NBPHE, and Meazure Learning to analyze the survey results of the Job Task Analysis Survey.
The results of the work will inform the GPH workforce, GPH leaders, academic institutions, and training programs of the duties of a variety of governmental public health positions and what may be required to support individuals in these roles.
